I have made 2 lemon meringue pies this week and given both away. It is only fair that I am rewarded with the same flavours but in bar form!
The penultimate review of our Betty Bakes Bonanza is Lemon Meringue & White Chocolate.
The 90g, free from nasty flavourings and colourings bar, consisted of lemon curd upon a shortbread base, topped with a Belgian white chocolate and meringue layer.
The first thing to jump out at me was the bright yellow curd - it was practically a sticky neon goo! It had a tangy lemon flavour whilst still being sweet enough to banish any tartness. The base was once again a little crumbly but had a lovely light buttery taste with no salty kick! The Belgian white chocolate on top with meringue pieces running throughout, was amazing - sweet but not throat burningly so with a slight crunch before the meringue melts in your mouth.
All I can say is, perfection! It's a fab option if you are looking for something a little lighter - it is a bit to easy to eat all in one go though! It's full marks for Betty today - 5 out of 5!
