Review- Shaken Udder NEW Strawberries & Clotted Cream Milkshake

A few weeks, I was contacted by Nikki (Hi Nikki! Thanks Nikki! Happy Sunday Nikki!) asking if I would be interested in trying the NEW Strawberries & Clotted Cream Milkshake by Shaken Udder. As I am not crazy, I accepted this generous offer and 3 bottles of the baby pink stuff turned up on my doorstep, not to long after. 

Parading its pips on the outside, Britains best berry earned its name from the farmers stuffing straw around their plants. We blended this scrumptious strawberries in a bottle with Rodda's divine Cornish clotted cream. 

It's essentially summer in a 330ml bottle! Who doesn't like strawberries and cream come a scorching July day, after all? Well me for one but that's neither here nor there - Cream haters are few and far between so I am told.. I will take the fruit though, a long with the promise of British Milk and no nasty hidden preservatives. flavourings or colours. 

Giving the Shake a shake and pouring some into a tumbler, the Shake* appeared to be up to the usual Shaken Udder consistency of being plenty thick yet still smooth, silky and easy to drink. The strawberry flavour, albeit very pleasant, didn't quite pack the strength I anticipated with not all that much in terms of sweetness or potency.. But of course, this could solely be down to the fact it was the "real deal" opposed to a cheap and most likely, artificially flavoured supermarket Strawberry Milk (Nesquik, anyone?). Creaminess wise.. It was certainly that which did pair up with the relatively mild strawberry nicely but managed to avoid being overly cloying, to produce one very tasty, indulgent, "grown up" drink. 

Overall, this Shaken Udder Strawberries & Cream offering didn't disappoint in the slightest.. Well, in fact, it's exceeded my expectations really, especially after having prepared myself to be repulsed by the cream aspect. Perhaps I am a changed woman. Perhaps I might channel my inner "Wimbledon" and go the whole "Strawberries & Cream hog" this year. Perhaps.. I just really like Shaken Udder. I think it might be the latter, don't you? Get yourself a £1.49 bottle from Waitrose and let me know what you think - It's a 4 out of 5!

Review- Nomadic NEW Apple & Banana Yogurt & Oats Drink

It may have taken me a month shy of a year but I have finally found another flavour from Nomadic to try. This time, it's a Yogurt & Oats Drink in Apple & Banana which I thought was a bit of a strange combo.. But it was branded NEW and I was sucked in!

Rise and shine with our delicious and filling signature yogurt made from the finest milk and blended with crisp, juicy apples and healthy oats. 

Tesco is where I picked up the 275g bottle for £1.50 - Not the cheapest but no doubt healthier than a Frijj or Milkshake equivalent. Made in Ireland using low fat yogurt, apples and oats, the drink is suitable for vegetarians and can be kept in the fridge for 2 days once opened, if you fancy prolonging things.. I know I would struggle having that much dairy in one go come a morning! 

Cracking into the bottle and pouring some into a tumbler, I expected the scent of banana to be much more apparent, instead it was mainly an acidic aroma and not much like any fruit at all. This reflected in the taste completely with the flavour of yogurt being very much at the forefront with a real tang yet creaminess and a further zing from what I can only assume was meant to be apple.. Although you wouldn't really know it! An aftertaste of banana may have lingered after one mouthful but then again, it was so vague, I could have quite easily imagined it. Texture wise, things were equally as strange - Smooth and silky combined with the somewhat off-putting and "bitty" pieces of oats. Very bizarre. 

Overall, I can't say this Nomadic NEW Apple & Banana Yogurt & Oats Drink has wooed me. It isn't unpleasant by any means but the flavours are whack with a dodgy texture to match and at the end of the day, not what it says on the bottle. I'm going back to the Lassi! It's a 2.5 out of 5 from me. 

Review- Shaken Udder NEW Uber Udder 1 Litre: Vanillalicious! and Chocolush!

Happy Chocolate Milkshake Day! This could be no more fitting since it's all about Shaken Udder and their NEW Uber Udder 1 litre cartons on this sunny Monday! 

I was contacted by the every so lovely, Nikki who asked if I would be interested in trying the larger sized, Vanillalicious! and Chocolush! Shakes which I didn't hesitate accepting given my all round love of SU. As seen with the 330ml bottles, both flavours are made from British Milk, are free from gluten, artificial flavours, colours and preservatives along with being a source of B12 and naturally, Calcium. They are also suitable for the Veggies amongst us with a recyclable carton for the planet savers. 

Vanillalicious!

Our divinely smooth Vanillalicious milkshake is made with real vanilla beans and is utterly delectable in every way. Get your vanilla fix in a flash!

Pictures lie - There were so many more vanilla seeds in the Shake than what appears.. It was loaded! This certainly reflected in the taste with a flavour of full on vanilla along with sweet, creamy milkiness which once again, just as the 330ml version did, reminded me of a White Magnum. Texture wise, the Milkshake slipped down a treat with its silky smooth feel and just the right thickness - Nothing claggy here! A 4.5 out of 5 from me.

Chocolush!

Our sumptuously smooth Chocolush milkshake made with real Belgian chocolate, is your moment of bliss anytime of the day. 

Moving onto the Chocolush! and our main source of celebration today.. It even smelt like traditional chocolate milk! Taking a swig, the familiar sweet, hint of caramel, cocoa tones were upon me with that uncanny "ice cream" flavour which I am still sure to be that of Ben & Jerry's. The consistency was undeniably luxurious, identical to above and overall, not sickly in the slightest, making for one very very drinkable Shake! - Another 4.5 out of 5! 

Well, I can't say I am suprised.. When it comes to store bought Milkshakes, I really think it's difficult to find anything more top-notch than Shaken Udder! These NEW Uber Udder Cartons are addictively good with a quality you can't question whatsoever - It is nice to see that the standard hasn't slipped just because of the larger quantity either! Available now in Waitrose, The Co Op and independent retailers with a RRP of £2.20-£2.70 a carton, I highly recommend you go get both. If only they did Top Banana in "big" too.. Alas, off you pop - Someone pick me up a 330ml bottle, thanks!  

Review- Oreo NEW LE Strawberry Cheesecake

The search has been high and low with everyone appearing to have struggled but finally, the NEW Oreos have been located! Well, the Mint option is still unobtainable but the Strawberry Cheesecake now seem to be in most Asda stores which is who I need to thank for todays review! 

 

The strawberry cheesecake Oreo is a tasty sandwich biscuit filled with creamy strawberry flavour centre. Yum!

I picked up two, 154g packets for 50p each, passing one on to my fellow Oreo enthusiast and general BFF, NibsnScribs (Go read her review!). Having read the description of the Veggie friendly biscuits, I was instantly dubious to just how "cheesecake" they would be.. The list of ingredients did nothing to reassure me either.

I was practically engulfed in a strong strawberry milkshake scent upon opening the packet - It was very sweet, slightly artificial and undoubtedly familiar. Having a munch, the biscuits themselves were up to the usual standard in being crunchy with the signature chocolatey, Oreo flavour that we all know and love. As for the cream centre, it certainly packed a punch, tasting just as they smelt - Not cheesecake in the slightest but instead uncanny to the centres of Strawberry Hello Panda. Together, I am not sure how well the two elements complimented one another given that the centre was so overpowering - A bit of a strange match! 

Overall, I can't say these NEW LE Strawberry Cheesecake Oreos do it for me unfortunately.. I love Hello Panda but in my opinion, such a strong strawberry flavour just doesn't suit this kind of chocolate biscuit - Not to mention the fact they aren't cheesecake in the slightest! Here's to hoping the Mint fair better.. If we ever find them that is! It's a 2.5 out of 5 from me. 

Review- Shaken Udder Milkshakes: Chocolush! and Vanillalicious!

Last summer I discovered Shaken Udder, the company behind the then NEW, Salted Caramel Milkshake which I immediately fell in love with. Having not delved further into their products since, I felt the time was now and purchased not 1 but 2 other flavours from Tesco - Chocolush! and Vanillalicious! 

The 330ml bottles of Milkshake which are made from fresh British milk along with other real ingredients, cost £1.30 a pop which I didn't think was to unreasonable given that they are free from gluten, artificial colours, flavours and preservatives as well as being the all important, Veggie friendly.

Chocoholics rejoice! Finally there's a rich and creamy shake made with lashings of real chocolate to satisfy those cravings at any time of the day!

I couldn't not crack into the chocolate option first.. Chocolate milk was my life when I was a kid, after all! The Shake smelt most inviting and I got glugging pronto. Smooth and silky is the only way to describe the texture with just the right thickness - Not to watery thin and certainly not claggy. Taste wise, it was remarkably and slightly bizarrely uncanny to a Choc Ben & Jerry's! The signature flavour that we all know and love from the Ice Cream was most apparent with sweet, almost caramel tones along with a pure rich chocolate hit. A lovely aftertaste lingered and thankfully, there was zero in terms of sicklyness either - A 4.5 out of 5 from me. 

Vanillalicious!

Get your vanilla fix in a flash! This divinely smooth and creamy shake is udderly delicious in every way! 

Vanilla time! - Although slightly blue looking thanks to the dodgy kitchen lighting, I do like how you can see the actual seeds! Once again, the Milkshake went down a treat with its perfect, luxurious consistency which made it only to easy to drink. "White Magnum?!" I thought when sipping away as similarly to above, it tasted almost identical to a frozen treat - Nothing but full on creamy, milky, sweet, vanilla-y melted Ice Cream! Absolutely divine - Another 4.5 out of 5 from me. 

Well, I have officially fallen deeper in love with Shaken Udder.. And I didn't think that was possible! Both the Choculush! and Vanillalicious! are superb and really quite refreshing despite being beautifully creamy - They deliver on flavour, are most certainly of a high quality and well, anything that tastes like Ice Cream is a winner in my book. Now, if only I could find the Top Banana Milkshake.. I wouldn't hesitate risking the old on-off allergy for that!  

Review- Shaken Udder NEW Salted Caramel Milkshake

I made the obligatory stop off at some Services when on the trip down to my Nanny Dearest's last week - Some Lunch and a stretch of the old legs was much needed! As I perused the sandwich section of Waitrose, I spotted this NEW Salted Caramel Milkshake by Shaken Udder for £1.29 - Far cheaper than a coffee.. If only I had drank it there and then rather than being swayed by a Costa and bringing the thing home with me, instead! 

Discover the deliciously decadent combination of sweet and salt. A fantastical milkshake that blends the smooth taste of golden caramel and the finest Maldon sea salt. Bottled bliss nom nom nom. 

My on-off allergy alarm was going 19 to the dozen upon opening the bottle - It smelt of banana!? I dubiously took a sip and thankfully, wasn't killed off there and then as it was luxurious creamy caramel all the way! It was perfectly sweetened and not overly sickly which was surprising given how thick the milkshake was - I felt it had a toffee yogurt sort of vibe to it! Was it salty, I hear you ask? Well.. I can't say, I found it to be particularly so but having said that, the drink was perfectly balanced and delicious so you can't really complain to much! 

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my first taste of Shaken Udder with this NEW Salted Caramel flavour. I found it quite refreshing for a milky drink when had ice cold, straight from the fridge. My only quibble is why it smells like bananas.. Maybe it is just me and my nervous disposition but  I feel questions need to be asked! That aside, its a 4 out of 5 from me! 

Review- FRijj Supreme Sticky Toffee Pudding and Honeycomb Choc Swirl Milkshakes

Chocolate milk is the best. I use to drink pints of the stuff and probably still would if I allowed myself! I spotted these FRijj Supreme Milkshakes in Sainsburys for £1.30 each and thought I'd give them a whirl and reignite my love for flavoured milk. 

Sticky Toffee Pudding 

Very suave packaging! 

Oh my goodness gracious me! A lovely toffee scent welcomed me upon opening the bottle. I poured myself a glass pronto, eager to try the delight that was waiting for me.. My bubble then burst. One sip and I was overwhelmed by sweetness and left with a claggy film in my mouth and throat! I don't like the texture at all and the flavour is just as bad - Sticky Toffee Pudding, it is not! I can't for the life of me fathom how anyone would enjoy this awful drink. A 'I wouldn't drink this again, for love nor money' 0 out of 5 from me - YUCK! 

Honeycomb Choc Swirl

I really do like the fancy-pants bottle. Wish I could say the same for the drink *cough*. 

OK, this one wasn't quite as vile as the Sticky Toffee. It had a nice honeycomb smell and at first it didn't taste all that bad. That was until I was greeted by the trusty old claggy film and a delightful celery aftertaste - what a bonus! Why a milkshake would taste of celery is beyond me. Don't get me wrong, I love celery but I don't want my drinks to taste of it! For being slightly more bearable, it's a 0.5 out of 5 from me! 

There is a third milkshake in the Supreme range - Raspberry White Choc Swirl. Thankfully, my buddie Kev (@kevvieguy on Twitter - he's full of banter and finds the best snacks) has reviewed it on his blog (http://kevssnackreviews.blogspot.co.uk/2015/04/frijj-supreme-white-chocolate-raspberry.html?m=1) as I'm not sure I could stomach another! 

What are FRijj playing at with these Milkshakes and who decided on the name, Supreme?! Unless you particularly enjoy super sweet, claggy celery drinks, I suggest you steer clear. I'm off to pour both my bottles down the sink and have a lie down. Good grief.
