As promised a few weeks ago in my review of the White Chocolate Praline Wonder Bar, here is the Glorious Coconut Hocus Pocus from The Grown Up Chocolate Company! Snape Maltings in Suffolk is once again where I picked up this bar from when I was on my Holibobs, back in July.
The 65g of chocolate, shared over 2 bars, cost £1.99 - I was wishing and a'hoping that this one was going to be a winner as they are to bloomin expensive, not to be!
Creamy indulgent coconut ganache luxuriantly topped with an indulgent fruit and nut jumble enrobed in decadent milk chocolate
I was a bit concerned at first as the bars had a rich, dark chocolate scent with only a subtle hint of coconut - Delicious but I was expecting a tropical paradise! Luckily, the flavour was far more potent than the smell. The coconut ganache was spot on and very creamy, with a soft bite at first but then a dense, chewy texture. Nuttiness came from, what seemed like hundreds of hazelnuts and almonds that were packed throughout as well as adding a serious crunch which was a fab contrast to all the soft elements. Citrus undertones were also present - I was surprised these went well with all the other flavours considering there was so much going on! The chocolate that coated the lot was gorgeous with its deep flavour and melt in the mouth consitency. No element was overly sweet either which is always a sign of good quality!
Thank goodness that this offering from The Grown Up Chocolate Company was a hell of a lot better than the ridiculously sweet, White Chocolate Praline Wonder Bar, that left me so bitterly disappointed - I wouldn't have been happy to have wasted another £1.99. I will definitely be buying more when I next go away although word has it, Grown Up Chocs are now being sold in WHSmiths so if anyone finds any, please let me know as I haven't had any luck as of yet! Its a 4 out of 5 for this Glorious Coconut Hocus Pocus - It really is magical!
